Waters we need to harvest from
#1
I thought I would start a thread on waters we need to harvest fish from. Seems that the catch and release thing has caught on so much that some people look down on someone taking home a fish. So I will start a list with a few waters.

1 - Flaming Gorge Lake Trout under 28 inches.
2 - Lake Powell strippers.
3 - Provo River section open for bait.
4 - Starvation Walleyes

[cool]STRAWBERRY!!!!!!!!!!!! And, we need to ignore the slot limits there too! (At least that's how a lot of ignorant "anglers" feel about it, anyway).

Definately the chubs out of the Berry but we need that slot limit to stay for awhile longer cause them Cuts are getting really big now!

Them Cutts are getting big eating the chubbs out of the berry! So lets not harvest them chubbs out of the berry other than to use as bait for them cutts. Let them big cutts harvest them chubbs.

Copied this from a recent Deseret News Article:

DWR Strawberry Management Program Working
The Strawberry Reservoir spring gill net survey conducted by the Utah DWR reveiled that the Bonneville Cutthroat planted to devour the chub are doing their job. Chub numbers are down and the ones found tend to be older ones too large for the cutthroat to eat. Low numbers of 1 to 2 year old fish indicate most young are being eaten befor they mature.
The slot limit for fishing Strawberry cutthroats seems to be working. Fish between 15 and 22 inches must be returned to the lake. These are the fish eating the chub. They are fat and healthy and will provide some great fishing in the years to come.
Rainbow numbers were down in the survey. It is unclear if they are holding in areas not included in the survey. Future plantings will be of larger but fewer fish to insure better survival rates.
