Need info - Island Park
#1
Rented a cabin in IP for all of next week. Cabin says that it is on the Henry's River and a 5 min walk to the lake. I am planning on taking the canoe with all my spinning gear plus all my fly gear.
Can anyone tell me what to expect/use? I put a small electric troller on my canoe and have it registered in UT. Will this be okay to use in ID?
I have never been there and don't know what to expect, any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

I go up there every once in a while and I find the local trout shops in Last Chance to be the biggest help. They are the first set of stores you come upon when coming from the south. They can tell you of current conditions and stuff. The river up there seems change a lot as far as what the fish like. Might I recommend the
Buffalo river for a little brookie action? It's where we take the kids.

Oh yeah, about the canoe, we've taken ours down the Box Canyon several times. It is a blast! We didn't catch any fish because we were just enjoying the trip. We put in right below the dam and pull out right where the river gets close to the road. There are small rapids so experience helps.

River right below Island park dam use #6 bryce bugger with a #12 lemon head dropper or soft hackle sows, big stone nymphs work well also. it is fun.
Henry's lake out let: fish it just like you would the weber.
Henry's lake: Glimmer buggers are very effective and it is fishing better this year than it has for 4 years.
Island park res.: use Chartreuse power bait.
Not far from the Madison and big nymphs are working well there too.
I like to throw size 20 drys on the Buffelo for the small brookies,it is a hoot.
Have fun Rob!
