[black]Just wanted to share what I am (still) learning about Willard.[/black]
[black]Last Thursday, I went out with a neighbor targeting the wipers and did pretty good. The same night my nephew and his son went out and didn't even get a bite![/black]
[black]Well, last night the tables were turned against us. Last night I and a friend went out targeting wipers again but this time it was our turn to get zilch. But that nephew of mine was out there too and was quite successful.[/black]
[black]So, what is the difference I ask? My nephew trolls with lead line and on the poles that he doesn't use lead line on, he uses deep divers.[/black]
[black]The night I did good, there were plenty of boils and I believe that the wipers were much higher in the water column working and watching the shad on top. Last night … no boils anywhere all night.[/black]
[black]One more bit if info to add to my learning is that there was a guy at the cleaning station where he and his partner both were cleaning their 6-limit each. I asked what they were using for a lure … Shad Raps (deep divers). And he had only fished for an hour and a half.[/black]
[black]So here is what I am thinking for trolling for wiper during warmer water times of the year: If the wipers are boiling, consider trolling shallow divers (lipless cranks). If they aren't boiling, consider going deeper … lead core or deep divers. Notice I said "consider".[/black]
[black]Of course, as always, if you are not catching on what you are using … try something else or some other technique.
