Fly Fishing for Beginners
#1
I have been roped in to taking a couple of friends for their voyage fly fishing trip this weekend. I am trying to decide what river would be the best for helping these guys to learn a little about the sport. Middle Fork of the Provo, just below the Jordanelle dam or the Weber? They aren't so interested in catching fish as they are in learning how to cast and a few ins and outs. Preferably the less crowded would be ideal to prevent the frustration of other fisher man.
How do you get to the river just below the Jordanelle Dam and how much of it is available to the public?
Thank you,

If you're hoping to get them into more of a sure deal on catching fish, I wouldn't recommend the middle. You can catch fish, sure, but it's going to be more technical fishing than other places.

If it were me, I'd take them to any one of the nice little Uinta streams or even lakes. That way, you can throw big dries all day and they'll catch more than enough fish to keep happy.

If they are more interested in learning to cast take them to an empty football field.

Then try the Provo, there will be more fish and everyone should catch a fish their first time out.
