Fished Mantua this afternoon with a friend and his two young sons. Bluegill fishing was almost non-stop action. Caught a couple perch. Tried a little for bass but no luck.

Kent,
We are headed up there tomorrow. What bait and size hook were you using for the blue gills? My 7 yr. old daughter is going and I think she'll have fun.
Thanks Kent. Clint.

We used really small hooks, but found that they would swallow that too easily. Moved up to probably about a size 8. Used weighted jigs with a white body and tipped with a crawler.

If you are getting a few to swallow the bait then I would put on a jig head that they would not be able to swallow. The last time I was there I noticed that the big perch were right on the bottom and we would watch the perch right down below the boat. Are you going to be in a boat? Good luck
