A Few Good Catches, But Nasty weather: SW FL Fishbuster Dave
#1
[font "Arial"][size 2]Saturday, the Fred Williams party fished with us ten miles off Naples, in 5 foot seas left over from the cold front. We caught keeper mangrove snapper and triggerfish, and released grouper shorts. We had a few big gags bite small grunts, but they broke our 12 lb. test, and got away. Alan & Cynthia Gitken fished with us Sunday in 35 feet off Bonita Beach, and caught large sheepshead to 18 inches, and keeper mangrove snapper. Thanks to some nasty weather fronts, the only other day we got out this week was Wednesday, with the Howard Church party. Fishing 10 miles, 278 degrees out of Wiggins Pass with shrimp, we caught two keeper gag grouper at 24 inches each, hogfish, large triggerfish & sheepshead, mangrove snapper to 15 inches, porkfish, and big grunts. We released numerous grouper shorts. Hoping for improved conditions next week.
