THESE REPORTS ARE CURRENT AS OF 9/21/05 BUT SUBJECT TO CHANGE ON OR JUST AFTER SATURDAY, 9/24 AS THE EFFECTS OF HURRICANE RITA ARRIVE.

Canyon Lake: Water clear; 78-81 degrees; 908.33':
Largemouth are good in numbers at first light very tight to brush and stickups in 3'- 6' on white Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), soft plastics like watermelon-red Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com) on wacky rigs using a "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com) & 3" Craw worms(www.jdcbaits.com)on jigheads. Once the sun is on the water, baitfish move out to suspend on the thermocline and the bass follow, making fishing tough. Upriver, weightless
wtrmelon-red 4" Whacky Sticks, 4" soft jerkbaits and pumpkin or watermelon 4" Ring Worms worked very tight to and through the heaviest brush produces til midmorning.

Smallmouth are fair at night using a black-red Terminator single spin spinnerbaits, 5" JDC Craw Worms & Sliding Weight Baby Craw (www.slidingweight.com)on Carolina rigs.
Stripers are slow, suspending in 50'-70'.

Crappie are fair upriver on white crappie jigs and minnows.

Lake LBJ: Water stained; 77-82 degrees; 824.78':
Largemouth are good in numbers from daylight until mid-morning along seawall rip rap and breaklines of intersecting channels on watermelon Skip-N-Pop topwaters (www.jdcbaits.com), white-chartreuse-blue 1/4 oz.
Terminator Stainless spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) & Texas rigged grn-pumpkin Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com).

Stripers are good at night to 26" around lights in 15'-20' using Spoiler Shads and free-lining live bait.

White Bass are good at night around lights using 1/32 oz. Lit'l Fishies and small Terminator In-Line spinners.

Crappie are good to 14" over brushpiles using minnows.

Channel Catfish to 8 lbs are good on trotlines using large minnows.

Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 78-83 degrees; 1015.34'
Largemouth are fair to good from first light until midmorning in 5'-8' of water above and along primary breaklines of creek points and over flats with stumps and laydowns using a 1/4 oz. Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Trap (www.rat-l-trap.com), white-chart. 7/16 oz. Terminator tungsten spinnerbait (www.terminatorlures.com), 5" green-pumpkin
Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com) preferably wacky rigged on
3/0 "K" Wacky Hooks (www.falconlures.com). Later, work bluffs w/a 3" wtrmelon JR. Craw (www.jdcbaits.com) or rootbeer grub down ledges as deep as 20' to locate and attract suspending bass. Submerged mainlake humps and brushpiles in 15'- 25' are holding suspended bass during the day.

Stripers are improving slowly, following schools of baitfish as shallow as 20' beneath the surface. Trolling 1/2 oz. striper jigs, vertically jigging silver Pirk Minnows, white 1/4 oz. bucktails w/plastic trailers
and drifting live bait produces w/varying results just after first light.

Crappie are good over brushpiles in 10'-15' on crappie jigs and minnows.
