I am leaving in three hours to fish the South Fork tonight. Last time I want I came home sucking my thumb because I was beat up so bad. Anyone been up lately? What did you use (I fly fish) where did you go? Will you be up there tonight? I plan on hitting the area around perception park and memorial. If so, let me know and maybe we can hook up (pun intended).

I hit the S.Fork yesterday in the same general area as you.I started with nymphs with no success so I switched to a elkhair caddis with a zebra midge dropper off of that.Started hittin the browns in knee deep riffles.Even nailed a tiger trout with this setup.Nothin big....largest was a 12 inch brown. All the rest were around 10.Scenery was well worth the trip.

I agree. The view was wonderful. I hit the S. Fork on Friday and Saturday. Friday I hauled in 4 beautiful pre-spawn browns on a size 18 hare's ear. Saturday I only fished for an hour and pull in 1 on a hare's ear at one of the creek side benches at perceptions (10 incher) and missed three more. I was to busy talking to my brother was is trying to get interested in fly fishing. What size caddis are you using and color? I want to go on top but don't have any luck. Thanks.

Since I'm about blind and can't see little dry's I'm using a 12 elk hair caddis. The hackle is a light tan and the body is orange/red.I'm color blind too....I'm lucky I catch anything.I think right now any stimulator ( elk hair caddis/ hopper ) will work. They come up and look at the dry fly but mostly hit the dropper about ten inches below that.I did get a few on the top fly also. Are you using a strike indicator when you're nymphing?

Yea I use a small florescent green strike indicator. I spooked a large brown 18+ with it. I think I may try an elk hare on top and try the zebra midge dropper or try a hare's ear dropper. Then I will pass it by that 18+ again (he is always there) and see what happens. The browns I caught were all in pre-spawn colors so it won't be long until they start spawning.
