Kentucky Lake & Lake Barkley
#1
Largemouth and whitebass have slowed some this past week. The cooler
temperatures and the rains have slowed the currents in the big lakes,
which have caused the whitebass and largemouth to slow their bites
somewhat. When the Mississippi Rivers drops and the lakes start to flow
again this week, then whitebass and largemouth will turn on again, The
lakes are one foot above summer pool and the levels will be dropped back
to normal. Most largemouth are hitting plastic worms and deep crankbaits
on the main lake points early and late. The drop offs are better during
the day. Crappie is only fair. Most are being caught on minnows along
the secondary drops in the main lakes. Bluegill are excellent on
crickets and worms. Catfish are still good but have slowed some at the
end of their spawn. Some very heavy catches of catfish are still being
taken along the rocks very early and late. Catfishing is good in the
tailwaters below both the big dams. Sauger are slow. Some good catches
of smallmouth are coming from Kentucky Lake. Most are being caught on
small plastic worms and grubs fished along the main lake shoreline.

TIP: When the current is slow fish closer to the dams. The small current
flow will be stronger closer to it's source.

BITS AND PIECES: "Nothing ain't worth nothing, but it's free."
