catalina island

I want to take my float tube out to catalina island. Does anyone have any tips as far as where i might want to to, how far would be safe to go, where i can get live bait or if I have to catch my own, and what techniques should i use?

Perfect timing there is some great float tube discussions in the California boards right now and although most of them are freshwater, I am sure some of the tubers have had thier doughnuts out by Catalina.

If you scroll down from the main page of these boards you will see a section called "Fishing Reports" (this is actually a Fishing Reports/Regional Discussions section). Scroll down a little further and try posting this in the California board, there are many anglers there that will be able to help you and many of them subscribe to the California board so they are emailed new posts and will get your question immediately.
