Fight PETA and Become a Mentor!!!
#1
I was reading all the posts about PETA and I agree that how we as adults influence our youth, will become a big factor in their adult thinking and habits.
One of the best things that we as adults can do for our youth, is to become fishing coaches for the DWR. The classes are in the spring and now is the time to sign up to help.
All you need to do is be willing to be there once a week for 3 hours a night, for 6 to 8 weeks in April and May.
You don't even have to know a lot about fishing. The lessons are already put together for your local program.
There are several community ponds along the Wasatch Front that support the program.
Please help our kids to develop a love and understanding for the great outdoors by donating a few hours of your time.
You can go to the DWR web site for more information and to sign up. Thanks for your support, Dale for The Roy City Meadow Creek Pond.

Ocean, I hope that you will contact the DWR again this year.
They get very busy when the program starts every year and they will make some mistakes. Please give them another try this year. Your efforts will be greatly rewarded.

Great program. Anything to help kids and too go against PETA is good in my book. BTW CBR and I are in the stages of planning the 3rd annual ice party. Details to come later. We also need to get a ice trip together soon. I am done with school next week.

Polokid, I'm ready. I was thinking about Danials in Idaho and also Mantua, when they are safe.
Lost Creek has to be close to safe by now.
I will be at Fish Lake the 20th of Feb. for 4 days.
We should get a group from BFT to fish there.

The junior high schools where I've taught, I've sponsored an "OUTDOORS CLUB" for students. What I've found over the years is that many of these kids are the ones who are interested, but for whatever reason, do not get the support from home to spend time out in nature. We do some rapelling, hiking, ice fishing (they LOVE that!), invite Hawkwatch International for presentations . . .
Any of these kinds of activities show those kids that the real conservationists in this world are those who are involved in fishing, hunting, camping, and so on.
And on a more serious note: PETA sucks!
