i was talking with a friend from the basin the other day and he said that they have been fishing it for a week or so. I don't know how thick the ice is but if it's been fishable for more than a week I'm sure it has got to be getting around 6 or 8 inches. Hope this helps.

Do the bass and bluegill in Pelican still have the parasites in their flesh in the winter like they do in the summer? I havn't fished there for over a year and have never ice fished it.

the bluegill out there always have the parasites although they do seem to be less in the winter, but they don't hurt anything if you can stand the thought of it just cook them up with the rest of the meat it won't hurt you and you can't taste them anyway,

Some nice pics of big gills and even a couple nice bass. Looks like plenty of safe ice to me.
Dont know about the white circular crap ice pics. Might want to step around those things.

Hey Bassrods .... what's the deal?

I just went over to the "Free Form" site and I see that the Mad-S has stolen the Rod holder off the back of my Harley! Ya see, she holds that rack and I put the rods .... oh never mind. I'll just have to find another one by spring.

Those funny white circles in the ice are actually circular UFO rings. Seems we are not alone in the pursuit of ice fishing. ***insert twilightzone music here***

CBR explained them as frozen fish farts...but was hesitant to drill there.

Actually they're just airbubbles trapped in the 8-10 inches of ice.
