Fished the Rock this morning in the southern end . Ice is slick and about 7". Limited out on perch as soon as I located them . Fished 45' of water for success and a fishfinder is needed to locate them . NO slimers for me today but a few other BFT'ers hook some today .

Thanks for the report. Was it pretty easy access from the road? Hoping to make it on Monday morning with my kids.

HA69 Good to see you up there this morning! Good job getting onto the perch. It takes some moving around this year. I didn't fare quite as well. I managed seven perch and one 16 inch fat rainbow. I broke a blade on my auger yesterday and forgot to throw my other one in before I left, so I just fished holes I could kick open and holes other people had left. I was using small jigs tipped with meal worms.
Mr & Mrs Polo and OEJ were fishing about 50 yards south of me and looked like they did pretty good. The bite slowed down and I wasn't marking many fish, so I left about 10:30 so I could get to Sportsman's for a new set of blades. Tried Cabelas last night, but they were out of blades for my auger. Put my blades on tonight and I think its Strawberry Monday and Tuesday. Perhaps a trip to Sulpher Creek midweek to get one or two more days on my Wyo license before it expires.

[cool]Randy, it was cool fishing with you later this morning and watching you do your "perch detective" work.
Since my auger blades were dull, and only catching three perch in my first area, I later followed Randy around and his vexilar kicks butt! Those things are awesome. I tell ya, if there's perch to be found, Randy has auger, will travel! We got into them really good at around 10:00 or so in about 45 feet of water. Good times. I went out there to get a limit of perch for some of Pat's "Pigout Perch Chowder" recipe, and my mission was accomplished! Also caught a 17 and 18 inch bow. They fought hard and are nice and fat. Both made nice fillets to be bar-b-qued later next week.
It was also cool to see Mike (MGB) again and to fish with him for a little bit. I look forward to fishing with these two experienced anglers again in '06!
Kastmaster, the hard compact snow leading down to the lake is a little slick in the a.m., but your kids should be just fine as long as you guys take it easy going down. Have fun, and good luck. Remember, after you catch one of them, use eyeballs on your jig. And, speaking of jigs, the fish seemed to prefer smaller ones today (even the trout).
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!! Gotta go wrap presents now (procrastinating sucks[pirate])

Thanks for the info and the tip. Were you in the south end, too? I was thinking of trying my luck on the west side.

I would recommend getting to the west side second restroom before 7:00am for a good parking spot or you will have to park along the highway . Place gets crowded fast . Most of the perch run 8" to 10". I walk out on the ice towards Rocky Point to find the perch .
