Fish finder batteries!!
#1
[#ff0000]I am looking for a good quality sonar battery for ice fishing. I am really interested in a good 12 volt gel cell, but curious if somewhere the S.L valley or in the vacinity carries them, without having to order from the internet. Also interested in other opinions in sonar power sources

polo,

you know those battery powered little trucks and 4 wheelers that kids can drive around? (a barbie jeep for example...)

Walmart carries the replacement batteries for them in the toy dept.
they are a compact 12v gel cell. I've used one for years and NEVER had any problems with it. Just be sure and get one that you can get to the pos/neg terminals cause some of them just have a special end to plug into the toy truck/car.

[cool][#0000ff]I know you had one from Sportsmans die on you, but those are good batteries. I have been using that same battery for years. I usually get at least two to three years of hard use from one...not just for ice fishing. They are probably made by the same manufacturer that makes the Cabelas batteries. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I suspect you did not treat it right. You need to keep it charged up and not let it go completely dead. That is hard on SLA batteries.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]In the bargain cave section of NPS in Salt Lake they have a bunch of different sizes of the SLA batteries for about 70 cents a pound. I just bought two 5 Amp 12 volts there for about $2 apiece. They will test them for you there to make sure they are good.[/#0000ff]

I saw the same batteries TD, there was so many different sizes there. I was going to take my multimeter over there and get a few to experiment with. BTW as TD says they're SLA (sealed lead acid) batteries. Gel cell's don't last as long.
Check out NPS over in Welfare Square, just off Calif Ave. and Redwood. Kinda like a Toys R Us for adults.

[cool][#0000ff]I just started going over there, and I have already scored some great deals on fishing tackle and tools. I suspect it will soon be like Home Depot and Sportsmans Warehouse. I will own stock in the company but will never receive any certificates or dividend checks. Know what I mean?[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]By the way, you can reach it by turning off Redwood Rd. either on 1700 so. or 1500 south. There are lights on both corners.[/#0000ff]

I bought mine at sportsmans for about $25 or $29 and have had good success with it. About a month ago I saw the same battery 12 volt 700 Ma battery at radioshack for 15 dollars.
