common scence

Well does this weather bite the big one or what ?
I went to about 11 lakes between central Michigan and the west side this past weekend and only found two worth drilling into . Now not that I'm chicken or anything like that but I really don't want to risk taking a swim early in January .
I did see a few guys slinging out plywood boards to walk across the ice to get to their favorite spot ,to me thats not dedication to the sport , it's just foolish .
A dedicated icefisherman will wait till the ice is safe , not just for his own saftey but because of his loved ones at home and for the people who would come to his aid if he should fall thru .
When I hear some nimrod boast about getting the first fish of the season on ice that isn't a sutible thickness I get a little steamed , not by jelousy but by the sheer stupidity of his actions .
Putting yourself at risk isn't all that is done . How many people will have to get out there on and under the ice to save your butt ? They have familys too , familys and communitys that depend on them . I really think they would rather spend what time they have enjoying life than risking it because someone wanted to brag about catching a fish .
Think about it before you head out this week .
