Strawberry 1/13

What a day. Sunshine and no wind. We caught a ton of fish today. Didn't have anything to measure, but caught some nice ones. Used White Whatta Crickets with minnow and smelly jelly. We wanted to get away from the people and hiked a bit. We hit a few spots that we sank up to our waist. But it was worth it. used the new fishfinder again, and can't believe the difference it makes. Although it seems the last two times I don't spot any fish till my jig goes in the water. Then they follow it up and down. Caught most towards the bottom. Was in 26 ft of water. Doesn't get much better. Although seeing other people on different types of machines go by did make us jealous with the nice hike we had. No slush at all, with a few inches of snow on top.

You are totally right MGB. I owe a ton of my success to your tips and the finder is just one of many. Different areas, scents, etc have all helped. The last two times I have gone, I have outfished my buddies probably 10 to 1. I would still like to see how a real pro does it sometime. Thanks again

We did have a few pictures, but it was my buddies camera, I will post them soon. We were between the marina bay and mud creek. It was a hard walk but worth it.

I'm pretty sure he meant the deep snow off the lake. The ice/ frozen slush was 14" thick on wednesday, safest ice around. You should go ahead and give the berry a try f4f05. It's fishing, not catching [Tongue] I've had varying success the 4 times I've been up this year, but I haven't been skunked. I don't have a finder, I just move around untill I start catchin 'em. Those cutts are beautifull fish, and they average about 19-20 inches this year. I don't care who you are, thats a nice fish!!! Getr done!!![cool]

We sank to our waist while hiking in the snow off the side of the lake, not on the ice. Sorry. The ice is plent fine with at least 12 inches or more and just a few inches of snow on it. It was perfect conditions on the ice. We were hiking down a small hill, staying on top of the snow, when we hit some real soft spots and sank in the snow. We finally made it and with the trail blazed, it was a bit easier going back. Strawberry is awesome right now.
