Hey Jeff

Can you, and or others, explain to this "down under fishing man" what a fanny pack is? I imagine this is an American term.

Got something to do with sitting down? If so, then here it would have a totally different meaning.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve - The MJB
BFT Lures/Baits
http://www.demonjigs.com

Sure thing Steve! A fanny pack is a small (or sometimes quite large) bag that has a belt on it and goes around your waist/belt area. They call it a fanny pack as when it was first invented, the bag part typically sat in the rear of you. Today, you see many people wearing them in the front around their belly. Here's a picture of a leather one:

http://www.vistatexas.com/images/wpe152.jpg

Jeff M. Jost
Enjay Enterprises

Ok and thanks for the pic.

Here we call those a "bum bag" and now I know the ones you mean. Not what I had in mind at all and glad I asked.

I thought given the word fanny that it may have been one of those sit down type tackle boxes with a chair built in.

Not so!

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve - The MJB
BFT Lures/Baits
http://www.demonjigs.com

Jeff

Can you recommend a solid, well made, game lure tackle box for me?

It needs to hold swaging pliers, lures, hooks, trolling heads, skirts, leader material and so on. Has to travel in a plane cargo hold and be strong enough to withstand that, and the rock and roll of a boat, etc.

Need one to take away in August to Western Samoa for the IGFA their.

Thanks in advance.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator - Lures/Baits
http://www.demonjigs.com

Hi Steve,

What you might want to look at is the SKB Ultimate Tackle System. It's the only one I know of that's airline safe. You can find more info here: http://www.skbsports.com/det.las?sku=2SKB-7200. It's not cheap (~$160 US), nor is it light (22lbs) but it protects everything inside the case. As far as a tackle box goes, I have not used it as such, but I've seen two in use and seen them in the local stores. For me, it's too bulky. I rarely need that much tackle.

Jeff Jost
