motorguide bow mount??

I bought a motorguide bow mount with footpedal but having some trouble mounting the bracket. I understand how to mount it but where? I know, on the bow, but how much do you want it to stick out? It's going on a 16' fiberglass v-hull. I was hoping someone could post some pics of what theirs looks like (top and side view). Does it sit a little off center? Any help would be appreciated.

It is a FW-F8. 54 lb. thrust, 50" shaft. Just perfect for my little butterscotch! (I used to call it baby poop mustard!!) Who thought of those colors back in the day? I'll post a pic when I get it mounted today (sunday). Thanks for the replies and PM's.
