I'm a little late on posting:
Pineview: After spending the most part of the morning fixing the clutch on the sled I arrived around 12:30. Talked to one man in the narrows who said it was slow. I ended up fishing at the mouth of the narrows in 25 feet. After a little search and several holes I found the perch schooled up and put around 40+ on the ice before leaving at 5:30. The ice was 15+ thick but only the last few inches were clear. There was about 6-8 new inches of snow on the lake. The snow started to fall around 4pm and by the time I left only a few die-hards remained.
Mantua: I again got off to a late start and it felt great to sleep in past O'dark thirty for a change. Made it on the ice at 10:30 and to my surprise the city of tents were not very large. I only saw about 15-20 groups on the lake. I made camp in the south east bay and caught two tiny perch and a full bucket of the gills. Several of the gills were larger than my hand. The ice was thick and covered in 6" of new very wind blown snow. The day was b-e-utifull. A few clouds and lots of the big round heater in the sky. The wind picked up around 2:30 and I left at 3:30.
Sorry you could not make it Lavaman. Hope you feel better.
