The thaw is comming
#1
This will be a somewhat good weekend to get in on some steelhead fishing , if you can handle the rain and flooding that comes with it .
We still have quite a few inches of snow covering the land with frosen ground beneith it , nowhere for all that rain water and melting snow to soak into other than our streams and rivers .
This is good from the standpoint of pushing the fish up out of there holes to move up twards the dams and giving us fishermen an excelent oppurtinity to harvest some fresh crome .
The downside will be that the swifter and deeper waters will become more of a hazard in persuing our quarry . Footholds and wadable paths will be unstable as gravel and rocks wash out from the curent .
Stay close to shore , use extra caution when wading above the log jams and take a buddy with you .
This weekend I will give a local spillway a shot at some wading time and THEN I plan on hitting Tippy early Sunday .
Good fishing to you ,
