portable fish finder

Has anyone used the zebco portable fish finder on Cabelas website? I want to put a finder on my float tube, but weight is an issue since I tend to back pack my tube into back country areas. I have seen the wrist watch one but I am not impressed. any ideas?

I don't know anyone that has tried one and I personally would need that in order to buy one. I don't care for the fishing buddies and the one with the little green jiggy thing has it limitations also, specially in colder water.[/size][/red][/font]

[#0000ff]It also sounds like it would be a good item to carry on ice fishing trips, although most good sonars will shoot through the ice if you place the transducer directly on hard ice or in a small puddle of water on the ice.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]While it is a good unit for quick reads on depth, I doubt that it has the power or sensitivity to give the more sophisticated readouts that more experienced sonar users require. When you really learn to use a sonar you appreciate the grayline feature, that shows you bottom structure and composition. Also, with only the fishy icon displays you get a lot of false fish readings, from bubbles, tree branches and other things in the water.[/#0000ff]
