Highland Lakes (Buchanan & LBJ) Guide Report
#1
Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 66 degrees; 1011.75':
Stabilizing weather has back bass showing an inclination to
spawn. They've turned on to motion baits in traditional
spawning areas; i.e., along breaklines of flats inside of the main and secondary (feeder) creeks and pockets. Low water levels have cleared the shallows which is good for
experienced sight fishermen.
Largemouth are good in 3'-6' inside of secondary points
of creeks and pockets using weightless Texas and wacky
rigged (w/3/0 "K" Wacky Hooks) pumpkin-chartreuse Whacky
Sticks white-chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits, crawfish
Rat-L-Traps and 5" watermelon-red JDC Craw on jigheads.
Stripers are good in 28' above Shaw Island uplake drifting
live bait, trolling striper jigs and casting 3" Spoiler Shads and Albino Snap Back jerkbaits rigged on weighted RED
Bait Jerker Hooks by Falcon Lures to schooling fish.
White Bass are good from Paradise Point to the river jigging Pirk Minnows, 2" Spoiler Shads and trolling crankbaits.

watermelon-red twitch baits or weightless wacky rigged Whacky Sticks green pumpkin Snap Back creature baits and Rat-L-Traps.
White Bass are fair to good trolling Terminator In-Line spinners, small crankbaits and casting 2" Spoiler Shads through schools.
Crappie are fair to very good in 4'-7' channels on 1/32 oz. white crappie jigs/tubes and live minnows.
