At least you got a good story to tell. Sounds like it would have been a great fish though.

That area of the pond, and the conditions, sound a lot more likey to have been a cat, than a carp. There are some decent sized cats in there. It was funny though, cause Moby was talking not watchin his pole, and suddenly the line took off with the rod in tow. He barely grabed it before the rod was gone. [crazy]
Anyone up for fishing Saturday morning at the pond. If you got 'em bring your 'toons, or tubes!

[cool]Hey that sounds like a blast, but too bad you were using weak line. If you are going after big cats like that, you might want to try a braided line with a 10 pound mono leader, or a really tough co-polymer line like the one I use (Silver Thread Excaliber). Good luck out there next time. Hope you land him this time, or at least get a good look at him before he breaks you off...

What time Saturday will you be there, I've only fished it once and don't know what to use. Should I bring my fly pole for the troutskies and bait for channels?

Too bad about the line Moby. What weight line are you using? Heck maybe it's time for some new line on that reel. I just hate it when the line breaks.

I was using 8 lb monofilament, and I had my drag set pretty low. We heard the fish jump a couple times, and my buddy caught a quick glimpse of it before it disappeared. It most definately was a cat. We'll be down there sometime saturday, not sure if it will be morning or evening yet.....most likely evening because I think I have to work tomorrow morning for a bit. PM me if you want to meet up with us there

I live near there and might go down saturday afternoon - evening, but just from the shore. What part of the lake were you fishing. I've only been there once and caught a white bass near the outlet. I've never fished for cats in my life but would like to start. I've bought a bag of premolded bait - how does that work for 'em? Also what type of hooks do you guys use? trebles or circles? All I have is trebles. thanks for all of the help, If you see a couple of teenaged kids down there sat stop by and say hello. thanks
