I'm planning a campout for the scouts and I was just wondering if Vernon would be a good posibility? I've never been out there just heard some good things about it so any info would be great. How is the road getting out there, is it paved all the way there or still dirt? also are there campsights right on the lake? Now to the fun part - the fishing. What type of fish are in there? Trout I would guess. With all of the kids there I wont be able to get out in my tube so i'll be fishing from the shore. What are the technices that work on this lake? thanks for all of the help. Hopefully the weather will hold out for the weekend. thanks again!

Hey Billy we took our scouts there last week-end. It was a great time. The road is a dirt rode for about five miles or so into the lake. It is a well maintained dirt rode I might mention. You can camp very close the the lake witch made it very nice. we camped by the dam. There is supposed to be rainbow and browns in there ,so I heard but we didnt even get a bite. We used flys/spinners/ and I hate to admit it but " power bait". Not even a bite. It was very windy at times so I think the fishes just wern't in the mood to play. Good Luck to ya.

There are Rainbow and Brown trout, I have always done pretty good fishing the North West side between the dam and the flat area. Fish with a couple of split shots and salmon eggs "pautzke fireballs green lid" I have used others but not done as well. I have also done well at the inlet using worms under a bobber, red/white Daredevils, and Panther Martin spinners. You can also go up stream and do well with a worm.
