Fishing info wanted
#1
Gettings fellow fisherpeople, I live in the SLC and I am looking for a good place to fish this Sunday May 7th. I want to fish somewhere that is no more than an hours drive or less from the SLC. Does anyone have any good suggestions or had good success at any prominent lakes around here lately. I have been to Pineview, Jordenelle, Rockport, Utah Lake and the little ponds in the SLC and Tibble Fork. Does anyone have any other suggestions, I was possibly thinking Deer Creek, how is the fishing from shore? I do not have a boat and is Deer Creek Free? Any info would be appreciated.

Deer Creek would be a good place to go. Rainbow bay has alot of good shore access, but there is a five dollar entrance fee. There is a place inbetween the group pavilion and the main marina where you can park and fish for free. We were there wednesday last week and brought home a couple of nice rainbows in the few hours we were there.

as a very general rule, if you can park at Deer Creek, it costs money--meaning if you go to the State Park Marina, Rainbow Bay (with the exception of the spot mentioned) or Beach area, you are going to need to pay. I went on Saturday on Catman's advice and just parked at a pull-out just west of the Charleston turnoff. There is a big long rocky shore and plenty of access. You could also try just west of the Charleston bridge at the mouth of the Provo river inlet. If you don't mind a little hike, you can go to the north side of the dam and down into the construction site and park at the trailhead for the Provo/Jordan River Parkway and walk up a few hundred yards and fish from the north side of the lake (which usually gets a lot less pressure.

[cool][#0000ff]There are also two turnouts with free parking and decent fishing in Walsburg Bay. They are just east of the main state park launch area. You have to walk a ways to get down to the water, but there have been some good fish caught there this year.[/#0000ff]
