What to do with your old rod/reel
#1
[cool][green]Just about every fisherperson has a rod or two that is no longer being used. Perhaps originally you bought an inexpensive rod not being sure that fly-fishing was going to be your game. Later [after being hooked –lol] you invested in some better equipment. Tackle shops are not known to take trade-ins like cars, cameras, guns etc. Goodwill or the Salvation Army are not likely places to donate them. Just by chance I came across this ad by the Orvis people. Thought that I would share this info with you all.[/green]

From June 1 to July 15, we’re giving you a very special-one-time opportunity. Save 25% on a new Orvis rod or Battenkill Large Arbor Reel (or a rod and reel), when you clear your little-used or obsolete rods and reels out of your closet and donate them to Orvis. The tackle you donate to this Rod Swap program will then be distributed to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or other charitable kid’s organizations.”

Unfortunately, I have only had a couple of rods being under $350., but my first was a Pflueger rod and reel that I gave to my neighbor, Then the Sage DS rod and reel that I gave to a close friend. I gave a Orvis TLS 8 wt to my nephew in exchange for a log bed (not the reason I bought the rod, just the way it turned out). Now that TLS 4wt I have for sale will probably go to my Neice. Oh ya, I had a Cabela's stow-a-way 7 pc 4wt that 2" on the top broke off so I fixed it and gave it to my Nephew.
