I have never fished there, but a couple of BFTers have in the last few weeks and they were doing very well with smoke sparkle or chartreuse senkos rigged wacky style. They seemed to be very close to shore, so I bet 5 to 10 feet. do a search for the last couple of weeks on sand hollow and you can see their reports with pics

SENKOS are the ticket. We used green senkos for the most part, use 5" senkos in the deeper water, they sink a little faster. Rig them weightless any way you want they will work. There are fish everywhere around the flooded brush, you can catch tons of smaller bass. If you go out deeper in the lake you seem to catch bigger fish. Don't be afraid to catch right in the middle of snags, thats where the fish are at. Reel slow, twitch them and let them sink the bass seem to hit the senko on the fall. Most of all have fun, you will catch fish. I have been down twice and we have caught tons of fish both times. GOOD LUCK and let us know how you do.[

I found that a 3" zoom pumpkinseed (greenish w/ black speck) curly-tail jig on a 1/4oz plain jig-head. I used a light-medium spin combo with a more sensitive tip and cast it out there and just would shake/lift/let drop and retrieve super slow...cover alot of water...but slow...lots of weeds/moss on just about every retrieve...but LOTS of fish too

I went to Sandhollow last weekend. I used a Zoom wacky riged from shore. it was awesome I caught over 30+ largemouth. I was just sight fishing. I caught a 4 pounder and a couple of 2 pounders and alot of 10 to 12 inch bass. I think i walked about 1 mile around the lake.I saw 1 man using a topwater frog a 5 or 6 pounder slammed it. it was awesome. The park ranger said a lady caught a 10 pounder on that saturday. I was there one a sunday. She said she saw it with her own eyes so it could be true. Because the bass in there are california breed so i guess that means they grow faster. when i find my camara hookup for the computer i will post pics. it was VERY hot i forgot my hat. I want to go back. If you want bluegills that would be the place.

If you flyfish, bring some poppers for the gills and smaller bass (green or yellow foam poppers worked best for me). 4 and 5" senkos wacky or texas rigged for the larger bass. In shallow you will see lots of small bass but a few very nice ones will come in and cruise around very shallow also. I wet waded and kicked my toon around for several hours straight last wednesday and got swimmers itch from my knees down to my ankles, so if you are going to wade or toon for extended periods, waders are a good idea.

hey man is swimmers itch big red itchy death spots that look like hives? i float tubed sand hollow waderless yesterday, caught a ton of fish by the way, and i woke up with the worst rash......but i've flaoted and waded may times there without waders and never had a problem so i thought it was unrelated........if it is swimmwers itch how long does it last?

senkos are the way to go. i have had 30 plus catch days every sat and sun since the end of march and its all i use there. the small fish are easy. if you cast to shore you can catch one almost everytime. move around to find the larger ones. usually they have been a little deeper but yesterday the largest fish were caught in the shallows. 1 foot to 3 or 4 feet deep........if you look at some of my last posts i have a lot of info in them on sand hollow. it's pretty much the only place i go.........good luck and let un know how ya do...

I have had several reports from customers about Sand Hollow.
One report they were using 3-1/2" watermelon brown reapers and the rest of them reported that the 4" salt stick in color # 013 was hard to beat. Good luck and good fishing! James [signature]

Thanks for all the tips. Overall, the fishing was pretty good. I caught 6 that were between 16-18 inches and about a million 8-12 inchers. I fished 4 inch senkos in shallow water for the smaller fish (although I did sight fish one of the bigger ones this way), and used a drop shot in deeper water for the larger ones. I also did good with texas rigged creature baits casted into deeper water. I was hoping to catch more bigger ones, but I just couldn't get them to bite. I saw several large fish cruising around in shallow water, but they were pretty spooky. I fished primarily by the RV camping, because I am lazy, but the red rock coves were so cool that I ended up fishing in those for alot too. Overall a pretty good trip, now if Jordanelle would just get hot! Anybody feel like going up there to try for some smallies?

There are no california breed largemouth bass! There are northern strain and florida strain. The huge fish caught in california every year are cross breeds between the northern and florida strians. There are no florida strain bass in utah all northern strain largemouths.
