I was working in the area, so I stopped by Vernon Reservoir. Pretty little reservoir tucked just inside one of the oddest national forest areas I've seen...not too many trees.
At any rate, not too many people there. I ran up the canyon behind it--up Vernon Creek and Little Valley Creek. Little fishies in there. I talked to a guy who had caught a few. It's a tricky little creek with LOTS of growth on the banks. The good news, though, is that it's already running clear. Not much snow left there.
On my way out I fished near the dam for a couple of minutes and did manage a little rainbow. When the wind died down, they were smacking the surface like they meant it. I had to leave just after five, but I'm betting the fishing continued to improve after I went.
Good trip!
PS-- Does anyone have any more information about this little mountain range and this part of the Wasatch NF? I wandered around near Bennion Creek and up towards Dutch Peak, but nothing further west than that. Any info would be appreciated--PMs are great.
