First Pineview trip this year, 5/30/06
#1
Sparky and I got on the lake about 1 pm and fished for about 3 1/2 hrs from the tube. Nice, cool sunny day, calm. It wasn't hot fishing but we caught 5 from 13-15 in. and then tied into a big ol Tiger which towed me around for a bit until he wrapped and broke off. 6# test just doesn't give yuh much of a chance. Would have been fun trying to figure out how to land him in my tube though. Thought I had a chance after battling for a while but he went to the bottom and found the way to get rid of that pesky thing. Sparky kept going after him which made it even more interesting. Was using my favorite Maniac Reaper, dark green, red flecks, a few small split shot about 12 in. above a weedless hook. They seemed to be scattered in about 8-15 ft. depth. Same for the Tiger. After breaking off and losing my stuff, decided that it was about time to pack up and head home to cook some kitties.
All in all, it was a good first outing. Got the old heart pumping and gave Sparky some exercise. The lake is full and the shore line is flooded so it made it difficult for Sparky but he managed.

It's too bad i didn't know you were there. We could have hooked up. I was in the swim beach area and middle inlet, but i went all over after i pounded that area hard. I also caught my tiger on the smallie setup with tube jigs. The only real difference is i use 50# spectra(Power Pro) and seldom have them break or cut me off.
Anyway, nice day to be out and great catching![cool] Maybe back up Thursday?

Hey Fred,

Good to hear your report! Sounds like it was a decent day on the ol pond. Be careful though, it looks like there is a shark in the water behind that smallie! Sparky rocks!

[cool]Nice looking fish (and dog, too), Leaky! I need to escape up to Pineview sometime this summer to try for some smallies from my tube. What is your favorite areas to launch your tube? I won't tell the swimmers, promise...[Wink]

Hey guy,
I was up the North arm. Need to find a better shore area fot Sparky. Sparky and I would have cramped your style so "not to worry". I'll be back on the "pond" throughout the year. I'm trying Mantua tommorow pm in the tube. Good fishing.[Smile]
