Interest in a spinner or jig making class in Utah county?
#1
Over on the jig making board, there is a discussion on spinner enhanced jigs and spinner making. I would like to know if there is interest in having a "get together" in Utah county to learn how to make some of these lures or just general jig making. I could host this event at my house or employment. Respond to the thread or PM me if interested.

[cool][#0000ff]Since I suggested you post this, I guess I should chime in and admit it. We have had several "sessions" in Petty's garage in Ogden, and there has been interest expressed for having one in Utah County. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Usually we try to have them on Tuesday evenings, from about 6 to 8. That seems to work best for most schedules. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The first session is usually about basic lead pouring and making some of the more common jig heads. We usually get into painting and maybe some glittering and eyeing if we have time.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Any other sessions can include "decorating" jig heads with fur or feathers and/or playing with spinner blades and wire. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Most newbies are pleasantly surprised to see how simple and easy it is to make your own lures...once you have the basic equipment and knowhow. Of course, the main reason for making your own stuff is not to SAVE MONEY...but to be able to create exactly what you want for any particular type of fishing you do. Wives do not understand how buying a lead melter, 20 jig molds, 10 different kinds of paint and a bajillion jig hooks can possibly save money. And...they are right. But, it keeps you off the streets and it is both fun and productive.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]I could make that work. Hopefully it won't snow like it did on our last planned session.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Let me know what to bring and what we want to cover. I don't know where all the northern contingent is in their "jigology".[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]We had talked about working with wire and making some spinner stuff. But, I can pack whatever anybody wants to talk about.[/#0000ff]

I've made a few "panther martins" over the years and poored a handful of jigs. I'm a beginner at best and would love to attend to expand my knowledge. Let me know when and where and I'm be there.

[#505000]Let me check with the Mrs's and see what her schedule is (so I don't have to babysit) and I'll start a new thread and propose a time/day. Hell if It's boring it's only 10-15 min from my house to Lincoln Beach anyway [Wink].[/#505000]

[cool][#0000ff]Not that it's any of your cotton pickin' catfishin' business, but Wednesday nights we work with a group of kids in the Youth Fishing Program, and Thursday nights I will be out of town sometimes, on two day fishing excursions. At least it will be if I don't get my wig back from the hairdresser in time.[/#0000ff]
