The Knolls Utah lake
#1
Had a couple of hours to fish on saturday after a funeral. So I desided I would fish the west side of utah lake for some cats. I was a good idea to do so. Th cats were very active and willing to play. I had 2 to my pontoon in 15 min. the action only got better from there on. every few min i had nother one. Tha hardest thing was, I was useing 2 poles and it seemed like they would take both at the same time. I lost more then brought to the boat due to this. One would take my bait and id set the hook. Just to see my other one go crazy. So iI would set the hook on it and by the time i got back to the 1st one it would wrap my line around something and I would have to break the line.
Anyways landed 6 and brought 4 home for the neighbors who just love catfish. Can't wait to hit the muddy pond again.

Man, that sounds great! Great report. Aren't those kitties fun? Just got hooked this year. I've been to rhe Knolls once now. What were you using? Were you fishing the edges of the cattails/reeds? What time of day was it? Will it last throughout the summer or how long? Send me a pm if necessary. Any help for an old geezer and Sparky would be appreciated. I'm going back for more fun soon.

Well to answer yor many questions[Wink]. I was useing cut bait Carp white bass chubs and worms. All below a bobber about 3 ft . I was fishing about 10 ft off the flooded brush. I was fishing from about 4 pm till 6pmish. will it last throu out the summer who knows I left my crystal ball at home when I was ouit there, But I hope it does. I used to fish the knolls at nite alot during the summer with pretty good luck all year. I was also fishing were everyone else was also moveing south of the fench even 50 ft made a wold of difference. That was a first for me and can't wait to hit it again.
Did I anwser all you questions I sure hope so. If you have anymore lets me know. Maybe we can go togather sometime

Thanks Mike,
You did a good job of filling me in, appreciate it. As far as hooking up, I'm retired and it's easier to go now whenever. I have to drive a ways to get there so I don't get down there that often, but, send me a pm or something when you have a mind to hook up. RiverRat and I hook up down there once in a while. My biggest problem is finding an area to fish where I can keep track of Sparky.

Ah yes, I've been found out. LOL. Yep, I work with your mom, or in the same building anyway. She's down in the mail in center and I'm up in the thin air on the fourth floor. [unsure] I actually talk to her on the phone every once in a while. She's a good gal.. one of the nice ones they have down there in that department... trust me, at the DMV, nice ladies are few and far between. But yeah we should hook up and fish, maybe the three of us and the Tube couple if they can make it. That time that Leaky fished the Knolls was my first time too and its certainly a spot I'll have to hit again.

Did you have a lot of the grass growing up to the surface in that area?
Just north of there, the grass was getting pretty thick a week ago.
I lost a few fish as I would drag them though it.

there was grass growing but I would put the bait just in shore from it.
