IDAHO TRIP
#1
The wife and I just returned from 3 days of fishing in Idaho. We had a great trip. Friday and Sat. were spent at Anderson Ranch Reservoir where we boated probably close to 100 Kokanee. The fish weren't large, averaging 12 1/2 to 13 inches with some of the larger ones reaching 15 inches. We kept 31 the first day and 40 the 2nd day. The limit is 25 a day with 50 in possesion. I filleted them and froze them to be smoked after we returned to Utah. I usually do 24 fillets when I start my smoking proceedure. They don't usually last long, I always take a batch to work and they are gone by the end of first break. On Sunday the Wife and my cousin from Mt. Home spent 4 hrs on C.J. Strike "Perch Jerking" and brought 75 home, they ran from 10 1/2 inches to 13. We vertical jiggeg for them in 14-17 feet of water. All and all a great trip for us. The water skiers from Hell were on Anderson all day Sat. something I have never seen much of on that lake before, even the locals commented on the the lack of consideration by the skiers toward the fisherman. They were a whole lot better at C.J. Strike yesterday, but they also had two patrol boats on the lake while we were there. Now it's time for a day of rest and then back to work Wed. I hope you all have a great 4th and be safe.[cool]

It's probably 300 miles to the upper end of the lake where we put in both days and it is paved all the way to the ramp at Curlew. It also holds nice smallmouth, several spieces of trout and some perch as well. It always reminded me of a large Porcupine Lake, as it is 13 miles long I think and pretty country. It is a deep lake when full being 350 ft. by the Dam. Nice places to camp and most places on the lake don't charge to use the campgrounds. They did start charging $4.00 a day to launch a boat at Curlew, but there are alot of other places around the lake you can launch with out paying a fee.We like to spend a few days fishing it every year. It was hot when we fished the perch Sunday at C.J. Strike . They have an annual Catfishing Derby at the Lake every year over the 4th and the people at the Sport Shop in Bruneau said the temp had gotten up to 105 earlier and had dropped to 100 when we were loading up. The fishing license runs $11.50 for the 1st day and $5.00 a day consecutively after that. There are alot of Kokanee in the Lake as we were drawing schools on the graph everywhere we went. There is a larger size in the Lake but we couldn't seem to get them to bite. That size usually runs 17 to 18 inches. I hope you all have a great 4th today and maybe we will see some of you at Utah Lake this Sat. fishing Catfish with TubeDude should be a fun day.[cool]
