Fish Cleaning Stink Solution?
#1
Ok - someone has GOT to have a solution. Last week I cleaned about 30 bluegill and perch. Wrapped the guts in a couple of plastic bags and the trash guys came 2 days later, but in that time WHEW - What a trash can stink!! Two houses down you could smell that stuff. I suppose if I lived elsewhere I could deep-bury them, but that's not really an option. In winter things stay cold or at least frozen. What do you do?

[cool][#0000ff]Depending on how much "leftovers" you have and how much available space you have in your refrigerator or freezer, you can put them in cold storage until the night before the trash pickup.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The other option is to use a business dumpster. Most businesses have a policy against allowing people to use their dumpsters, but if you are a good customer, and ask nice, they will sometimes approve. Business dumpsters often have pickups more than once a week so if you time it right the good stuff will not get as ripe as leaving it a few days in your own trash cans.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The other option is to make a midnight delivery to someone with whom you want to get even. It works especially well if they are gone for a few days and come back to find a bag of "goodies" on their porch. Just be sure not to leave any incriminating evidence in the bag.[/#0000ff]

If you're getting even, why leave it in a bag. Take a bag full up on the porch, and leave everything BUT the bag.[Wink][Wink][Wink]

The rest of your advice is absolutely correct. I use the freezer, but sometimes I forget to get the goodies out on trash day. They'll keep for weeks like that. Just make sure you NEVER use freezer space to keep the fish. Eat them fresh.

Like TubeDude says,,Put them in a black trash bag and put them in the deep freeze until the night before trash day,,works great. If you have room put the bag in a small cardboard box and those catfish spikes wont poke holes and leak in your freezer,,
