A Keeper gag Amidst the Snapper, Sheepshead & Fog: SW FL Fishbuster Dave
#1
[cool]Monday, the Chuck Gornick party fished with us 14 miles off Bonita, 258 degrees out New Pass. They caught keeper mangrove snapper, released red and gag grouper to 19 ¾ inches, and boated two nice hogfish at 15 inches and 19 inches, all on live shrimp. Tuesday, the Dave Bowers party fished with us 10 miles off Naples, and landed thirteen keeper mangrove snapper, keeper sheepshead, lots of grunts, and porkfish. We released gag and red grouper shorts, along with a small hogfish. The Tom Batchellor party fished the Bonita reefs with us Thursday. We went after sheepshead, and we found them—got seven nice ones to 21 inches, on shrimp. The Chuck Gornick party fished again with us on Friday, in dense fog all day. We were thankful to have radar that day. Fishing 13 miles off Naples with shrimp, we caught fifteen keeper mangrove snapper, a 23 inch gag grouper, nice triggerfish, and tons of sheepshead 12-13 inches, which we chose to release. Fishing Sunday with Alan & Cynthia Gitken 10 miles off Naples, we caught three limits of mangrove snapper, keeper sheepshead, and released grouper shorts.
