SPI surf and inshore Feb. 13
#1
We spent about half of a day fishing the surf wednesday. The surf was well occupied with winter Texans. We finely found an open spot on the beach and almost immediately,if not sooner, began catching whiting.I did not see anyone around us catch anything. The only thing I could see we do different is we hold our surf rods most of the time instead of putting them in a holder. We caught several whiting and pompano on dead shrimp, squid, and fishbites.
After dark we fished one of our favorite spots by a lighted bridge. The bite was very slow there at first but picked up a little as the tide began to move.We caught a variety there ,specks, mangrove snapper, sheapshead, stingray, and of course the piggy perch, on live shrimp.
A security guard came up telling us of a 36" snook that had been caught there. He said the man took it home to eat it.I think that is a little over the slot. Who knows if that was only another fish tail.
All in all it was a fair day for this time of the year.
