Deer Creek HOT???
#1
I just checked out the new DWR fishing hot spots map. Great idea but it seams like they have some information that is contradictory to what I have recently read on BigFish and word of mouth information.
The Fishing hot spots map indicates that Deer Creek is hot right now and Jordanelle is fair. From what I have heard and read Deer Creek has been very slow recently and Jordanelle SMB fishing has been at least good and maybe hot. Have fishing conditions changed drastically in the last week at these two fisheries or is the DWR up in the night?. The reason I ask is I had a trip to Jordanelle planed for the Holiday weekend but am now rethinking this idea and my try Deer Creek instead. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Anyone who puts any type of trust in that techie-inspired fishing map needs to re-think it. Most of the state is green on the chart. Don't think so. Plus, how are they updating it? We know fishing changes day to day, hour to hour sometimes.

Their map is not kept current -- at least not yet.

I would just go by the reports here to find out where is hot -- it's the fastest and best way.

It's a good idea, but it requires the field guys updating it often, we'll see if it happens.

[cool][#0000ff]There have been some decent fish showing up at Deer Creek...midweek before the power squadron hits the lake...at daybreak.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Unless you are very sociable, with a high threshold of tolerance for rude, arrogant boaters and skiers, stay away from Deer Creek until after the next silly weekend. Once it starts to cool down, school starts and we lose a few fishermen to the call of hunting, Deer Creek will get much better. Mid September until the end of October is a prime time on DC.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Stick with Jordanelle for this week's fishing. And, as you have been advised, do not ever totally buy into any one individual report. Even those put out by DWR are subject to a lot of misinformation and changes in weather and other factors which can greatly alter conditions since the report was generated.[/#0000ff]
