For fun - What's your most favorite fish to target or catch -rank
#1
Just to lead off: - let's limit it to Ut.. ok?
1. Smallies - great fighters, abundance, and eatability.
2. Wipers - can't get into em so most challenging, close availability, and good eating.
3. Kitties - great fight, abundance, and great eating
4. Carp - yep, I said carp!!!! Most challeging to catch, obviously very abundant, and good eating. Yep, good eating! [sly]
5. Talapia - Tough challenge (for the bigger ones), tough to find, great eating.
6. Largies - similar to smallies but just not as good a challenge and fight.
7. Blue gills - abundance, great fighters for their size and good eating.
8.White fish - Abuntantance, good winter time fight, good eating (better than trout).[sly]
Last - Trout, abundant, ok eating and fairly good fight if a rainbow.

I could go on but just curious as to what you guys think. Also trying to stir up some friendly, informative controversy. Please post. - Willing to learn and change my mind. [Smile][Smile][Smile][Smile] Lot's of personnal preference based on experience, right? [Smile]

[black][size 3]1. Carp - Best tasting fish I've eaten(I just wish I knew how it was prepared though) And there is just something about being taken for a ride to the backing of my fly reel. They can be quite challenging to target with a fly rod.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]2. Catfish - Definitely my second favorite eating fish and it also can put up a great fight. I also really enjoy the activity of fishing for them.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]3. Cutthroat Trout - I just love the places where they usually live.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]4. Macs - for the occasion when I can get it - I'm opportunity challenged.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]5. Wipers, stripers, white bass - good fighters and tasty table fare.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]6. Pan fish - great little fighters on the right gear.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]7. Brown trout. tasty and better fighters than most Cutts.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]8. Perch and walleyes - mostly for the table fare(you left them out).[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]9. Rainbows - Abundant, Tasty and great fun to catch when they take to the air.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]10. White fish - for the eating.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]11. Brookies and Tigers - tasty and a pretty good fight for a trout.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]12. Brown bass and Black bass. A great fight, a great show and good food.[/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Honorable mention - Northerns and Muskies - would be rated higher, but, In Utah, I haven't had much of a chance to specifically target them. They are more of a close encounter of the accidental kind.[/size][/black]

Now that's different. [shocked] I'm impressed with your open mindness!! Of course, I didn't agree with smallies!!! [unsure] But that's ok, obviously you have an "open" mind and not going with the "culture".[Smile] I've got to add that I've prepared the carp out on the lake the same way i do for all fishies but have to remove the big "y" bones and they are great.

[black][size 3]Hey Leaky,[/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]I grew up in the land where bass are native fish - as well a catfish. But you did say to keep it limited to only Utah right ? I took that to mean my experience of fishing in Utah. [/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Besides, as anyone who knows me, also probably knows I am not a run of the mill "cultsure" kind of person. [/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]BTW, if you are thinking my preferences in fishing may be kind of atypical, you should see my preferences in Dogs.[/size][/black]
