Another Utah fishing trip, Yeah i can post these on the utah forum but i think because i live in vegas should be posted here. Me and a friend decided to go fishing up in utah, being that ive become addicted to fishing again after so many years i went straight from midnight shift to the road on our trip to utah. We decided to go this time to Panguitch lake heard good things about it and heard it has been stocked massively through out the summer. We went up there and from first sight i kinda was dissapointed the ride there was beautiful but the lake wasnt as nice as Navejo or duck / aspen mirror. Algae all over the place thank god its not the type u get caught up on every 2 seconds but it made the water literally totally green. I really enjoy clear water when fishing for trout but oh well we attempted to fish up on the north shore area near the ramp.
So me and my friend attempted to fish i started out with a simple spinner bait one of those holographic ones. So a sudden gust of wind blew out to the water so i decided hey use the wind as a benifite to cast further. So i was reeling in 2/3s the way in i get a Thump dull not a normal bit at first i wasnt sure if i had a fish or i just got caught up on a log. My buddy was closer to it and saw a huge tail whip close to the surface of the water and said to me " i think u have a big fish". I was thinking 1 -2 lbs max because he isnt fighting much i mean not likea typical rainbow so i assumed this might be something else. As i reeled in fully i saw the full size and i was in shock i didnt expect the fish to be that big. I told my self wow caught a huge BROWN biggest trout i ever caught. Normally i dont keep the fish i practice catch and release but being that this was my largest and i do eat fish hey why not keep this one ( 5lb 2oz, and 25 -26inch long). Then little while later a boater came by and asked to see the fish so i held it up, 5lb brown. He told me there werent any browns and i should check the under jaw and sure enough it had a red streak he said it was a cutthroat. Ive never personally seen cutthroats looks so much like a brown before but this one sure did. That fish made my day for sure.
The rest of the trip was fair me and my friend together in a 4 hour period caught about 12 - 14 rainbows together (10 - 15inch range) mosting using spinngers (rooster tails, panther martins, ect)
so overall it was a good day because i landed a big fish, but few things bothered me how much algea was up there and how much trash people leave behind its
truely
people should definatly take care of there enviorment little better especially beautiful places out in nature.
Well here is a picture of the Fish let me know what u think
