WELL HERE IS MY $.02 I HAD THE TOGIAK BY TROUT UNLIMITED AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE RIDE AND QUALITY. I'M ALSO A BIG GUY (250#) AND I RIPPED THE SEAMS AFTER 4 OR 5 TRIPS.
I SWITCHED TO THE CREEK COMPANY ODC 420 AND HAVE NOT LOOKED BACK. IT HOLDS ME, GEAR, TOOL/ROD RACK, RODS, ETC. WITH NO PROBLEM. SOME OF THE FISH CATS BY OUTCAST ARE SIMILAR BUT A LITTLE MORE IN PRICE. FOR THE MONEY YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THE ODC 420.
EVERYONE ELSE WILL CHIME IN SHORTLY WITH THEIR $.02
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CHOICE, LET US KNOW WHAT YOU END UP WITH AND YOUR THOUGHTS.

[cool][#0000ff]Welcome aboard. Hope we can help you to make a good decision.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I owned a Kennebec for about a year, before getting into my Outcast Super Fat Cat...which I have now had over three years. That is a long time for me. I am also over 260 and need a ride that will both keep me well afloat and comfortable. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I initially liked the Kennebec, because it did float me higher than the round tubes I had used up until then. However, I quickly decided it was not a good craft for maneuverability. It took a lot of effort to move it around and to steer it. Even a slight breeze was a big problem. The high pontoons catch the air and they are difficult to track into the breeze. I also had problems with the valves on the lightweight vinyl air chambers. I had to make several unscheduled trips to shore to add air to my Kennebec when the valves decided to leak.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you read down through some of the review posts, and the Best of The Best...and go to the FLOAT TUBE SHOPPING GUIDE in the Picture Section...you will see some of the other options and our comments.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]For the same price range as the Kennebec you can get the Creek Company ODC 420. There is also the Outcast Fish Cat 4. But, with your size, I think you would do better with the ODC 420. If you have another 100 dollars in the budget, look at the Outcast Fat Cat. It has more PVC protection, bigger pockets and a urethane air chamber.[/#0000ff]

I can't talk about actual fishing yet, but from all the research I did, I decided the ODC 420 was the best bang for the buck. I got mine from www.jtbuckonline.com for a couple of bucks more than the one you posted and free shipping. I found it at another store later - www.outdoormarksman.com for $22 less but I'm not sure what the shipping cost was. I will say that the quality of the ODC looks top-notch.

I'll just chime in and say "ditto" to what these other guys have said. Get one of the V shaped tubes mentioned above. You'll be glad you did.

[black]I would recommend staying away from the TROUT UNLIMITED product as I've not seen or heard much good about them, I'm just glad it was friends and others who bit the bullet on that one. If you really want to try one out get it from Costco or Sams Club. If your not satisfied they will take it back no questions asked.

This chart from Cabel's may help you with your decision[/black] [url "http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/compchart/comp-chart.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/product/display-hyperlinks-moreinfo.jsp_A&_DAV=false&backLink=/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp%3Fid%3D0001567315379a%26type%3Dproduct%26cmCat%3Dsearch%26returnPage%3Dsearch-results1.jsp%26QueryText%3Dfloat%2Btube%26N%3D4887%26Ntk%3DProducts%26Ntx%3Dmode%2Bmatchall%26Nty%3D1%26Ntt%3Dfloat%2Btube%26noImage%3D0%26cmCat%3Dcchart_float_tubes&chartName=float_tubes&filterName=current&backTitle=Outcast+Super+Fat+Cat+Float+Tube&hasJS=true"]http://www.cabelas.com/...+Tube&hasJS=true
