Report from Rivers End Tackle
#1
UPDATED BY PAT ON FRIDAY, September
29th, 2006

STRIPED BASS- Theres some cows on the local reefs such as Hatchetts,
Bartletts, Southwest and Long Sand Shoal. Theres also a protective layer
of blues to get through before the bass can see your bait. Chunks seem
to do a better job of getting through the blues. Theres been some
school bass along Little Gull hitting plugs.

BLUEFISH- The River is still pretty much loaded with mixed sizes of
blues, some up to mid teens in size. Most are being caught on chunks but
they're thick enough to catch plugging. They're also blitzing the Old
Saybrook and Westbrook Town Beaches on occaision. Saybrook Point and the
DEP Piers are good shore spots. The Race, Plum Gut, Southwest Reef and
Long Sand Shoal

SNAPPER BLUES- They've got their bags packed and are getting ready to
exit. A few are still around.

FLUKE- The fluke and the flukers have retired for the season. In
previous years some doormats have been caught in October by those extremely
patient anglers.

PORGIES- Hatchetts, Bartletts, Southwest Reefs still have a good
supply of good sized porgies.

BLACKFISH- Reports from this week have been OK from Hatchetts and
Southwest Reef with mixed sizes and limit catches a rarity.

FALSE ALBACORE- Theres some at Montauk, Sluiceway, Watch Hill and the
Race. The action is even slower than last week, its not shaping up to be
a good run.

BLUE CRABS- Some giants were caught this week at the Lieutenant and
Oyster Rivers. The season on these is also winding down.

HOURS- The sun is rising later and so are we. Monday -Friday 6am
to 7pm

Saturday 5am to 6pm

Sunday 5am to 4pm

Going to try for stipers with Pop Nelson and Bobct sat. Don't know if the Lund can make the shoal savely with 9-18 winds but will try for the am anyway. Blues should atleast put a pull on the lines.[Smile]
