Team Goldfish Puts Nail in the 2006 SWBA Coffin
#1
The consistency machine of Matt Kobzeff and Sandy Collora of Team Goldfish ended their Saltwater Bass Anglers (SWBA) 2006 season on Nov. 4 with an exclamation point. Sealing the Anglers of the Year title a month earlier at the Shelf Bass Special event by seven points, this pair was poised for a win at their favorite venue - the Long Beach Breakwater.

The Top Ten event "Nightmare On Wall Street" season finale saw 10 of the season's best and one Wild Card team compete. The event ran from 4 to 10 p.m. on Nov. 4. This event allowed all three species of bass within the standard five-fish limit. Boundaries were the three sections of the breakwater both inside and out, making this a true breakwater tournament.

In the end, it was Team Goldfish who came to the scales with an incredible 21.23 lbs., anchored by a beautiful 7.25-lb. calico bass. They reported catching their fish on Edge Products Condors lathered in Hot Sauce.

Second place belonged to Team Vicious Fish - Chris Hurley and Bobby Peck. Their mixed bag of bass weighing 15.10 lbs. came on crankbaits and jigs fished tight on the LB section. Nailing down Third was Team Salty Balls, Karl Ehrbacher and Josh Dunlap, with a five-fish limit weighing 14.21 lbs. coming on 5 1/2-in. Big Hammer swimbaits.

Afterward, anglers, family and friends were treated to a dinner and an awards/raffle. Tournament organizers Eric Bent and James Shamblin thanked the sponsors for making the season a great success.
