Fishing in Arizona
#1
So I went to Phoenix over the weekend and had a free afternoon so I went and fished the Salt River just outside of Phoenix... I caught fish most of the day but is was nothing compared to UTah...most of the fish were between 7" and 10" long and didnt fight at all... most of them were rainbows with a few browns.. a lot of guys have bashed the UDWR about the fisheries in the area but I will take Utah anyday of the week over Arizona...

Fishing can be good for certain fish in Arizona but it sounds like it's tough for trout, I've heard the Nothern mountains are better. It's good to hear that Utah does a better job that at least one other state when it comes to raising trout. The BFT Arizona board has been slow since Tube Dude left the state, you might want to consider posting your report there also, thanks. WH2

[cool][#0000ff]I lived several years in Phoenix, before moving back up here. There is some good trout fishing, for big trout and exotics...like the Gila trout...up in the mountains to the north. However, there are only trout in the waters around Phoenix for a few months in the winter, when the water temps are low enough.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]During the summer the planters disappear. Those that don't get boiled in the hot water are slurped up by the big flathead cats or 15 pound largemouth.[/#0000ff]
