I am heading ice fishing on Friday and am not sure where to go. I really love fishing Strawberry but I usually fish at Chicken Creek and I am not sure that it will be safe by friday. I have heard reports that Mud Creek is fishable and I would not mind trying there.
Any advice would be helpful. It looks like there will be some snow on the lake before Friday and ice conditions should be prety hard to determine.
Thanks.
Tom

i fished both mud creek and chicken creek east on saturday. mud creek seemed to have mostly good ice (you can read the various reports from saturday on other threads). so, mud creek will probably be a safe bet.
chicken creek east had some ice on the north east portion of the bay. the rest was still open. there were a handful of groups fishing there on saturday (3 or 4). the ice was 3-4 inches thick where we fished in 25 ft water. the ice looked like it thinned out the further you walked out over the deeper water. it was slow like it was at mud creek. but we didn't get there til 10:30 am or so. the few guys we talked to had some success early. one guy had 9, another 6 (by the time we got there). i'm not sure what the weather will bring before friday. but, i'd use caution if you decide to check out chicken creek east.

I am heading out on Friday as well. But I am going to Scofield. When I do fish "da berry", I usually fish at the ladders. Either way I think you will be fine by Friday. I just like Scofield, becasue I usually get more action. The fish are bigger at Strawberry, but it seems like it is more sporatic fishing, at least when I have gone there. I have always wanted to go down the Soldier Creek Way, but I read a report that the fishing there last Saturday was not very good. I had a great time last Satruday at Scofield.

If you fish Scofield good luck!!! I will be fishing southwest of the boat ramp. Driving either a 99 Chevy Silverado "Hawaii Football" sticker in the back window. or a green 2004 Chevy 2500 Diesel. Look me up. In my group I will have a Frabil tent that we probably won't use unless it is really bad weather and another sled to carry all the equipment.
