Causey Ice Report

I was at the cabin this weekend and dropped by Causey. The left arm is completely iced with good clear 4" + ice. Big pressure ridge with open water about half way up though. The large area by the dam is iced about 10 feet out with 3 inch ice. There is still an area of open water out from the dam toward the right arm about 80 feet wide. A cow elk tried to test the ice and failed. We found her frozen in 2 inch ice about 30 feet out from the dam. The right arm and middle arm looked to be iced well to. This storm may ice it up for the weekend but it is going to be close. If it is iced I'll be there again. It will most likely be quite slushy this weekend from the recent snow. A brave soul walked out and drilled 4 holes about 40 feet out. Couldn't have paid me to walk out that far.

Thanks for the update. Too bad about the elk, although if she was frozen in the ice, she may still be edible!
