[red]This isnt a suggestion, just merely an observation. On Saturday I seen 3 atv's and one snowmobile on the ice at Mud Creek. The average ice where i was fishing was 8-9 inches. [/red]

And you were fishing at ...?
I thought I might go to Strawberry on the 23rd around 7pm for some night fishing. I'll drive and pay for everything and even get breakfast the next morning. But please, no tv or radio on the ice. It interferes with the solemnitude of nature. [signature]

[red]I was with a bunch of BFT people about midway between the large pressure crack just below the the parking lot and the main open water of the reservoir. I did notice there was two layers of ice in some places. The bottom was 2 1/2 inches and the top was like 6 to 7 inches, depending if you were on the north or south side of the bay.[/red]

I was the crazy one on the snowmobile this past weekend. To say it is safe would be a matter of opinion. Some say it is safe at 4+ and others would not try until much thicker. I would say it's safe depending on where you took the sled and how well you knew the ice.
Just use very good judgement and plan for the worst. [signature] |
