Caution when ordering from wormman.com
#1
I had seen that several of you had used wormman.com to purchase your worms. Their website says they ship out Monday thru Wednesday and orders place before 11:00 am EST will be shipped same day. I placed my order on Tuesday morning before 7:00 am MST on December 5th. My credit card was billed the same day. I receive an email with my order ID number the same day. I clicked on the link in the email to see how my order was coming on Thursday it had no information about the order. I sent an email to them on Friday and did not receive any reply back. I tried calling their number listed and I never got an answer so I left a voice mail, I never heard back from them. I sent a second email on Monday with a threat to call my Credit Card for a refund. I had put the order number in the subject line and at the end of my email. He replied back to me on Tuesday requesting my order number. I sent an email back to him Wednesday with the order number in bold red number. I have yet to receive an email back from him, however he did up date the order status page. This is what is says now.

Notes:
the waxworms had shipped out on monday and we are out of stock of the mealworms so we issued you a refund for that portion of your order. thank you and have a good day.

He shipped the order out 5 days after I placed it and did not get back to me about the meal worm being out of stock until today 9 days after the order.

Now I need to find somewhere to buy bulk meal worms for this weekend. Has anyone else had problems?

It looks like he has changed his webpage this morning. It now says that he will not be shipping until January 2nd. He has completely taken down the page for shipping meal and wax worms.

Thats a bummer, sounds like a rip off company. Even if there was a problem they could have at least contacted you earlier or responded to you Email quicker. Not a company I would ever do business with, thanks for the heads up.

Order them from rainbow mealworms.... http://www.rainbowmealworms.net/home.asp

$17 (including shipping) for 1000 giant mealys (over 1.5 inches). If you find someone else to order as well you can save on shipping

you will not be disappointed! I've ordered from them for 2 years and they are fast and reliable. The worms are huge and fresh. Each time when i have ordered 1000 I get about 1200 cause they account for some die off during shipping (only about 10 have been dead each time...)

I just got 500 worms on ebay for $8.50 (including shipping). They are not the largest (1" or so), but at that price I can afford to put on two! Just make sure to order from someone with good feedback.

I ordered 500 from Cabelas and they were $32. They will be here on Tuesday. It take one week to get them from the time you order.

Try www.beaverbait.com. I ordered from them last week and got 4 boxes delivered to my door within 5 days. They were great looking Waxies and cost 25 bucks for 1000 worms including shipping. You can also check out the Wis. BFT site and they have a site or two listed there in response to one of my inquires. Hope this helps.

[black]I ordered 1000 waxies from Beaver Baits and they got caught at the post office for the weekend and froze. It killed about 25% of my waxies. I wrote the guy and he's sending me a new order. He was really good about too. Can't whine too loud about that![/black]

My order arrived today, and it looks like all 250 of the waxies arrived fine, but about 90% of the spikes were dead. I sent them an email. Hope that I get the same quality of service that you got.

how long do mealies last? ive always just bought small quantities, but the way im going through them lately it may be smart to look into bulk. ive tried some of my left overs on open water before with zero success. any of you guys use them once ice season is over?

Mealys will easily last all ice season long if taken care of. Keep them in dry oatmeal and in fridge. Take out once a month, let them stay at room temp for about 1-2 days with slices of raw potato (moisture food) in the container. Take the potatoes out and put them back in the fridge. Really easy!

My dad still has some that lasted from last ice season.

If you want you can also ranch them once the ice season ends and produce your own for the next ice season. Check out this link...

I have never had any success with them after ice off...

Hope that helps!

[black]Hey folks,[/black]
[black][/black]
[black]Thanx for the great information on the worms in bulk ! [/black]
[black][/black]
[black]P.S. Bigcat, I can't seem to get that Rainbow link to work for me - it has something to do with their site vs. my security system. It says something about their software signature not matching something or another. Of course, since I've loaded IE7 and adjusted my security software accordingly, a number of websites have had issues. Oh well ...[/black]
