#1
CONCORD, N.H. - Women who want to learn outdoor skills like ice-fishing or snowshoeing can sign up for a daylong workshop offered jointly by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and the New Hampshire Wildlife Federation. The Winter Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (B.O.W.) workshop is scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2007 (snow date February 25), at Fish and Game's Owl Brook Hunter Education Center in Holderness, N.H. Registration opens January 8 and runs through February 9, 2007. Sign up early, because this popular workshop fills up fast.

Participants focus on learning one skill during the workshop. Choices include ice-fishing; winter outdoor survival skills; basic snowshoeing and tracking; snowmobiling; and 'Shoe and Shoot, which combines snowshoeing and target shooting.

The workshop costs $55 (includes box lunch). Participants must be at least 18 years old. A registration form and course descriptions will be available at http://www.nhbow.com after registration opens on January 8, or call (603) 271-3212 to request an application by mail.

"Women have loads of fun and want to have outdoor skills so they can spend enjoyable time outdoors with their families -- or on their own - during New Hampshire's long winters," said Laura Ryder, program leader for hunter and aquatic education at Fish and Game.
