Fished the bear last Saturday with mtnman and son. Did fairly well boating 12 total 7 cuts and 5 macks the biggest mack was 10 lbs with a couple of 7 lbers thrown in. Biggest cuts were two between 4-5 lbs. Caught all on the west side. Water temp was 34 degrees. Seen fishing waters and sons on the rock pile. Real nice day.

Nice report Jeff, next time I'll know your boat when I see it. Way to go on the macks, do you think the catching will be good until or after the cisco spawn?

In years past the fishing will be good until the cisco run is over then it will taper off for a couple of months. It just gets hard to launch a boat of my size if the marina freezes up. I'm sure you noticed when you loaded the other day ice was beginning to form. I hope they get all the bubblers running. Plus I hope the main lake don't freeze at least until after the cisco run it sure saves on the amount of cisco harvested.

We also noticed the water temp was 34*, so it might happen soon if there is a few days of calm weather. Last year we busted out the tail lights on the trailer as we were launching but were able to get the boat on the water. Before we came in that day we noticed the ice was forming all around us and it was the last day on the lake, in a boat, until it broke up a month or two later. We plan on being there in two weeks, hope to see you there.

Nice!!!!!!!
Shore fishing was real tough, icey rocks, so I ended up taking the kids sledding all weekend. The bubblers are on full boar but the morning temps are taking over. My guess is that we will freeze over this year and the cisco run will require one to drill/chop holes to get to them. I plan to do the disco run but more for eats than bait this year. I suck at the jigging deal and have been shown that trolling produces numbers as well as size. Not to mention, trolling is way more relaxing and you cover much more water. Thanks Jeff for showing me the way!!! LOL
Bye the way Bear Lake is now officially fishless...so hit the berry if you want to catch cutts... LOL
