WILDLIFE COMMISSIONERS WELCOME PUBLIC IN DENVER JANUARY 10
#1
Colorado Wildlife Commissioner Chairman Jeff Crawford (representing the public at large), Commissioner Rick Enstrom (representing sportsmen) and Commissioner Brad Coors (representing the public at large) will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Jan. 10 at the Hunter Education Building, 6060 Broadway.

The Commissioners are interested in hearing peoples' thoughts on the following topics: duck hunting on the South Platte, a proposed hunting Code of Ethics, and the Wildlife Commission policy on quality elk hunting. There will also be an open forum where the public can ask the commissioners about other wildlife topics.

The Wildlife Commission is a volunteer board that sets regulations and policies for the DOW. There are nine wildlife commissioners who represent five different districts in Colorado. They are appointed from each of the following groups: livestock producers; agricultural or produce growers; sportsmen or outfitters; wildlife organizations; and boards of county commissioners. The remaining three commissioners are appointed from the public at large.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is the state agency responsible for managing wildlife and its habitat, as well as providing wildlife related recreation. The Division is funded through hunting and fishing license fees, federal grants and Colorado Lottery proceeds through Great Outdoors Colorado.
