WILDLIFE CONTROL OPERATOR CLASS OFFERED
#1
CONCORD, N.H. - The annual New Hampshire Wildlife Control Operators (WCO) training class will be offered on January 11, 2007, at Fish and Game headquarters at 11 Hazen Drive in Concord. There is no fee and no need to pre-register for the class, however, individuals must be present by 8:20 a.m. on January 11 to sign in for this daylong course. New Hampshire Fish and Game wildlife biologist Eric Orff is the lead instructor. For more information, contact Eric Orff at 603-868-1095 or email eorff@nhfgd.org. The course is presented by the N.H. Fish and Game Department, the New Hampshire Trappers Association and the New Hampshire Wildlife Control Operators Association.

The Wildlife Control Operators class is a required course for anyone planning to provide nuisance wildlife control in New Hampshire, except for licensed trappers during the regulated trapping seasons. Since 2003, people who conduct commercial nuisance wildlife control in New Hampshire are required to be licensed WCO operators. As part of the licensing requirement, individuals must first complete a six-hour WCO class given once a year in Concord, and they must also successfully complete a Fish and Game Trapper Education Course.

The WCO training class ncludes presentations by several instructors on topics including New Hampshire state laws and rules, federal rules covering certain species, humane and ethical concerns, wildlife diseases, non-lethal resolutions to wildlife problems and capture and handling of wildlife.
